The University of Jyväskylä is a public Finnish research university with roots in the first Finnish-language teacher training college, founded in 1863. It became a university in 1967 and has about 15,000 degree students.
It has six faculties: Humanities and Social Sciences, Information Technology, Education and Psychology, Sport and Health Sciences, Mathematics and Science, and the School of Business and Economics. It is internationally known for education and teacher training and for sport and health sciences.
